The tamburitza family
Six sizes that together form an ensemble. Every instrument is built to order.

Prim (E, D)
The lead melodic voice of the ensemble
The smallest tamburitza in the family, tuned in E-D. Hand-built in our Varaždin workshop from carefully selected spruce and walnut.

Bisernica (G)
The high soprano voice in G tuning
A G-tuned soprano variant of the tamburitza family. A complement to the prim, with a brighter, more piercing tone suited to fast ornamented playing.

Brač (A, G)
The lead voice of the tamburitza ensemble
Alto-tenor tamburitza in A-G tuning, the most recognised solo voice. Balanced tone and precise intonation that performers value.

Bugarija / Kontra (E, D)
The rhythmic chord foundation
Flat-back tamburitza with six strings in three courses, providing chordal accompaniment. A strong, percussive sound that drives the entire ensemble.

Čelo (A, G)
The warm mid-bass register
The tamburitza counterpart to the classical cello. Provides the harmonic bridge between brač and berda with a deep, woody tone.

Berda
The upright bass of the ensemble
The largest tamburitza — the foundation of every ensemble. Our berdas are built with particular attention to low-register resonance.
